Thought for Today "Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of Jesus." - Unknown True peace comes from knowing Jesus and knowing you are His. Claiming him as your Lord and Savior affords an inner peace that cannot be known without him. While some see an absence of conflict as peace, there is still an inner yearning for something more. That something is Jesus. He fills the empty spot in our hearts and souls, and gives us true inner peace.
  • Being the Church The church is not a building, but a body of believers with a specific nature and purpose.
    Bible Studies We have, in conjunction with our Dellroy church family, been studying 1 Corinthians. Join us at 6 each Tuesday evening for interesting discussions and good fellowship. We meet in the Fellowship Hall to discuss God's Word. It's not too late to join in!
    Community We work in our Community to get God's Word Out to Everyone. We provide community events throughout the Year.
  • Praise & Worship
    We are the Church! While we take worship seriously, we also take time to connect with one another. Pictured is our Rural Life Sunday picnic after our service at Atwood Lake Park.
    Missions
    OUMC provides many mission projects throughout the year in our area and beyond. Salvation Army, Homeless Shelter, Harbor House, East Elementary School-NP, Dress-a-Child, Share-a-Christmas, Heifer International, Food Pantry
    Group Fellowship
    Otterbein Faith Fellowship, Senior Lunches, Prayer Groups, United Women in Faith, Bible Studies. All are ways to care for each other and grow in our commitments to God.
  • Faith
    Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! John 8:24 unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.
    Hope
    Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Jeremiah 29: 11 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
    Love
    1 Corinthians 13:4-5: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13: 13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Prayer

Blessed Jesus, we ask that you come into our hearts and fill the void that longs for your love. We love you, Lord. Help us know you more fully, and follow you more closely every minute of every day. Forgive us when we stray from the path you have set before us, and let us willingly don the yoke of Christian love. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.

Upcoming Events

United Women in Faith We will meet December 7th at the church at 7:00 pm. Becky Chenevey is the hostess, and Phyllis Pollock has the program. Attendees are asked to bring cookies for that evening to share with each other afterwards, allowing each to take a variety home. All ladies of the church and their guests are welcome. Otterbein UWiF is selling candy and other goodies again this fall. The deadline to order is November 30th, with delivery on December 14th, after church. Look for the order forms in the Narthex and on this website.

Seniors Lunches Our November lunch will be at Hog Heaven in New Philadelphia, on November 12th, at noon. In December, our seniors will be dining at Dutch Valley Restaurant, off Route 39 outside of Sugarcreek. We'll meet at noon on December 10th. Everyone in the church and their guests are invited. Plan to join us for some good food and fun. Missions In early the month of November, we are collecting funds for Thanksgiving Baskets. The money collected will go toward Aldi's gift cards for members of our church, East School families, and the Food Pantry at Kent State - Tuscarawas who otherwise would not have a bountiful Thanksgiving. Our December project will be announced shortly.

Church Service is held at 10:30am Sunday Mornings. All are Welcome! There are no strangers here.

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung Visit

The Bishop for the Ohio Episcopal Area of the United Methodist Church, Bishop Hee-Soo Jung paid a visit to Otterbein in February 2025 as part of his goal of visiting all 1,000 churches under his authority. He was eager to get to know a little about us and to pray with us for what we feel we need going forward. We felt very honored and blessed by his presence, as this is the first time that any of us remember getting a visit from our Bishop.

Who we are:
Otterbein United Methodist Church is open to everyone. We worship at 10:30am Sunday mornings. Dress is casual. Our mission is to serve others. "I've never been to a more welcoming and caring church." The service is available to those attending church, sitting in the parking lot listening to their car radio on 88.1FM, or on Facebook or You Tube.
