Thought for Today

In this, the second week of Advent, we are preparing our hearts for the coming of the Lord. We must prepare to again acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Just as there was no room at the inn, the hustle & bustle and busyness of this season often leaves little room for Jesus. We can use this time of Advent to slow down and prepare Him room in our hearts and in our lives.

    Bible Studies We have watched & studied three seasons of "The Chosen" so far. Stay tuned to see what comes next!
    Community We work in our Community to get God's Word Out to Everyone. We provide many community events throughout the Year.
  • Praise & Worship
    We are the Church! We are out in our community sharing God's Word. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
    Missions
    OUMC provides many mission projects throughout the year in our area and beyond. Salvation Army, Homeless Shelter, Harbor House, East Elementary School-NP, Dress-a-Child, Share-a-Christmas, Heifer International, Food Pantry

  • Faith
    Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! John 8:24 unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.
    Hope
    Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Jeremiah 29: 11 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
    Love
    1 Corinthians 13:4-5: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13: 13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Prayer

Heavenly father, help us to remember the true meaning of Advent, which is to prepare ourselves for the coming of the Lord. Teach us to focus on your Son, and our spiritual connection to Him, as we eagerly anticipate His blessed arrival. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Upcoming Events

General Conference News During the 10 days of General Conference, delegates:

• adopted regionalization legislation,

• approved legislation that will remove restrictive, prohibitive language from The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church,

• adopted legislation that will grant Deacons authority to preside at sacraments,

• approved legislation to reduce the number of active bishops in the United States,

• adopted a reduced budget for the 2025-2028 quadrennium,

• approved legislation to change the clergy retirement plan,

• adopted climate justice legislation,

• and much more.

United Women in Faith On December 5th, at 7:00 p.m., we will meet at the church, with Jane Hill and Susan Watson as hostesses. Susan will also have the program. All women of the church and their guests are welcome.

Seniors Lunches In December, we'll meet at Gavin's on the Square for our lunch this Wednesday, the 11th at noon. All members are welcome to enjoy a time of food, fun & fellowship.

Church Service is held at 10:30am Sunday Mornings. All are Welcome!

Otterbein United Methodist Church is excited to welcome Pastor John Armstrong, beginning on November 1st, 2024. Pastor John is familiar with our local area, having graduated from Indian Valley High School. Until recently, he has served at Plainfield and Orange United Methodist churches. We are excited to begin this new chapter in our journey with Christ.

Who we are:
Otterbein United Methodist Church is open to everyone. We worship at 10:30am Sunday mornings. Dress is casual. Our mission is to serve others. "I've never been to a more welcoming and caring church." The service is available to those attending church, sitting in the parking lot listening to their car radio on 88.1FM, or on Facebook or You Tube.
