Thought for Today

In times like these, where there is fear everywhere we look in this world - in traditional media, online, and from our political leaders - it is important to remember that the Bible says some version of "Do not fear" 365 times. That's once for every day of the year. On Pentecost, we are reminded that God sent us the Holy Spirit to guide us through our fears. As Reinhard Bonnke says, "The Holy Spirit is a healing spirit. When the Holy Spirit is present, anything is possible."

    Community We work in our Community to get God's Word Out to Everyone. We provide many community events throughout the Year.

    We are the Church! We are out in our community sharing God's Word. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

  • Faith
    Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! John 8:24 unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.
    Hope
    Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Jeremiah 29: 11 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
    Love
    1 Corinthians 13:4-5: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13: 13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, as we pray today for strength, courage, and guidance, we are reminded on this day of Pentecost, that you sent us the Holy Spirit to gift us all these things. Thank you for the gift of our Comforter, Counselor, and Advocate. He is the indweller of those who believe, a guide, and an intercessor on our behalf. He is the Spirit of truth, life, and the Spirit of the Lord God, sent to be with us always. We are truly grateful for this gift, without which we might truly be lost. With Him, we are assured of our path. Help us to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Coming July 6th

Otterbein UMC is excited to be hosting a free performance by the Maranatha Chorus on Sunday July 6th at 7:00 p.m. Come, bring your friends, and enjoy an evening of hymns, followed by light refreshments.

Fellowship Time is before church at 10:00am. Coffee / Cookies / Snacks

Upcoming Events

United Women in Faith We will meet on June 5th, at the church at 7:00 p.m. Agnes Swigart will provide refreshments and Phyllis Pollock has the program. All women of the church and their guests are invited. Our next meeting will be in September.

Seniors Lunches In June, our seniors will meet at the Dover Bob Evans at noon on the 11th. Everyone in the church and their guests are invited. Missions Beginning on June 1st, we will be collecting monetary donations for the annual "Dress-a-Child" campaign. This campaign, in conjunction with T-4-C helps provide vouchers for clothing for children to start the new year in Tuscarawas County schools.

Church Service is held at 10:30am Sunday Mornings. All are Welcome!

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung Visit

The Bishop for the Ohio Episcopal Area of the United Methodist Church, Bishop Hee-Soo Jung paid a visit to Otterbein in February as part of his goal of visiting all 1,000 churches under his authority. He was eager to get to know a little about us and to pray with us for what we feel we need going forward. We felt very honored and blessed by his presence, as this is the first time that any of us remember getting a visit from our Bishop.

Who we are:
Otterbein United Methodist Church is open to everyone. We worship at 10:30am Sunday mornings. Dress is casual. Our mission is to serve others. "I've never been to a more welcoming and caring church." The service is available to those attending church, sitting in the parking lot listening to their car radio on 88.1FM, or on Facebook or You Tube.
